About us:
Founded in 2017 under another name and reactivated in September 2018 after an hiatus, the Jaeger Battalion 4 is an WWII based realism unit representing an Finnish light infantry battalion during the war. We value activity, fun and the historic setting. We try to still steer from the niche and negative sides of Milsim gameplay and not focus on unnecessary details.

We're still small sized crew, however we are actively recruiting people to our ranks. All what is needed is maturity, open mindedness and ability to work together as part of the unit.

Missions: Variety and Fun

Jaeger Battalion 4 is based around an historical Finnish light infantry battalion. This gives us variety of different missions and styles of playing through the three wars the battalion took part in. There will be campaigns where we cover the other units in the context of the campaign.

Our missions will be part of bigger campaigns which are chain of events which affect each other. Each campaign will be about an specific event or an battle at an specific front. We will try to visit as many fronts as possible and provide our members an good overview on the war.

Historical JP 4:

Prior to the Winter War, Jaeger Battalion 4 was stationed along river Vuoksi in Karelian isthmus. When compared to normal infantry units the Jaegers consisted of younger conscripts and career personnel and thus received better equipment and demanding tasks.

Jaeger troops were trained to master fighting as ski infantry in Winter and Bicycle infantry in the summer. Battalion's logistics and support units were also extensively motorized as an unique aspect for any frontline unit.

Jaeger Battalion 4 earned itself an legendary reputation in Ladoga Karelia and numerous other fronts the battalion served in as it was directly under the high command. End of the Winter War saw the battalion repositioning to the island of Santahamina in Helsinki. Maintaining the Presidential honor guard for the President was among their tasks.

President Kyösti Kallio died when he inspected the 1st Company of the Jaeger Battalion 4 when doing his last inspection prior to retiring. The First company was then nicknamed as the Life-Company (Henkikomppania). Whole battalion was present at the funeral.

The peace didn't last for long, the Continuation War started just year later in June 1941. The Jaeger Battalion 4 was subordinated along with 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the 1st Jaeger Brigade commanded by then Colonel, Ruben Lagus. This formation was the only unit to have organic tank support in the form of Armored Battalion. The size of this elite formation grew and by 1942, the Armored Division was born.

Continuation war took heavy toll to the battalion and it spearheaded the advance first in Aunus front and later was among the Finnish counterattacks in Kuuterselkä and Portinhoika in summer 1944.

The severely depleted battalion also fought along the river Vuoksi at Vuosalmi. Continuation war didn't see the end of the service for the battalion, instead it was part of the III Corps which had the task of pushing the German forces out of Lapland.
